Personal:

I currently run for Wofford College in South Carolina, where I double major in biology and Spanish. I will be spending 5 months studying abroad in Chile in 2017. I love cookie dough a little too much and spend most of my free time outside or asleep (or both). Living & running to know Christ and to make Him known!

Well, first 10k. Definitely didn't go as well as I was wanting. I was shooting for sub-42, and I thought I might could even get sub-41. I wanted 6:40 pace and I averaged out to 6:56. But I don't know how fair it is to expect anything from a race you've never ran, so maybe I shouldn't beat myself up. First mile was good, 6:25. I was holding back, trying to make sure I didn't just instinctively go 5k pace. 2nd mile was a 6:50, which surprised me because I had thought I was still on pace. After that it just went downhill....5k split was like 21:30 which is just juvenile, and after that I was just trying to finish honestly. Didn't feel good at all. But I did finish, and I got the experience, and I'm glad for that. And on another positive note, I am betting this will make the 5k tomorrow seem so much shorter mentally. Hopefully my body will recover well and I can be there physically, too. Who cares if I just ran the 10k, this is my last race of my freshman year and I am ready to PR and beat some people.
