Personal:

I currently run for Wofford College in South Carolina, where I double major in biology and Spanish. I will be spending 5 months studying abroad in Chile in 2017. I love cookie dough a little too much and spend most of my free time outside or asleep (or both). Living & running to know Christ and to make Him known!

10 miles on the beach at 8:00 average. Felt great for the first 7 miles or so and then I started to get pretty toasty...but finished it out. I think before today, 8 miles was the furthest I've ever ran on the beach (not a big fan of beach running). Gains, woohoooo!

Your workout today is inspiring to me. On average how many miles a week do you run and is that consistent throughout the year? I averaged 8:17 on my 10 mile run yesterday, I guess im just trying to find out how much i can expect to improve if i were to run higher mileage. Right now im averaging 40 miles a week, but plan to get it up to 60-70.

Thank you, that's really kind!! My weekly mileage varies depending on what point in my competitive seasons I am in (ie. less mileage towards my peak / most important races) but in general I'd say I average 55-65. 10 at 8:17 is solid, that's awesome! I'm a believer in higher-mileage running for improvement so I think that as you slowly get up to 60-70/week, you'll see a lot of improvement especially on those longer runs. My only advice would be to make sure you are very gentle & careful about raising your mileage - no more than 10% a week - in order to minimize injury risk!
